Who We Are Baldwin Community Garden is a volunteer run community garden located within Henry Baldwin Park in Carrboro, NC. We offer individual or family plots to town residents, with first choice of plots given to North Side Neighbors.
Our Garden Practices The garden has 21 4ft x 8ft gardening beds (two of which are handicap accessible), ten 4ft x 10ft beds (three of which are community beds for an herb garden and to provide food donations to a local food bank), a small shed housing tools that are shared amongst gardeners, a pollinator garden, and a water catchment system with 500 gallon cistern. This garden is organic, which means any amendments or fertilizers applied to the beds are organic (i.e. do not contain petroleum products).
Garden with Us All gardeners are asked to participate in at least two community work days where general maintenance is done (replacing beds, weeding, fence repair, etc). Work days are held monthly for two to four hours from March to November.
Want to apply to be a part of the garden and have your own garden bed to grow? You can sign up through Carrboro's website.
Funding There is a $30 charge per bed, per year, to help cover garden expenses such as mulch, compost, and capital improvements.
